Release Naming

OpenStack currently has a release every six months, in April and October. Official releases are tagged with the year and a release number, e.g. 2013.1 for the first 2013 release.

The releases are often referred to by their project names which are chosen in alphabetical order. Our current environment runs the Essex release from April 2012, there was a Folsom release in October 2012, Grizzly in April 2013, Havanna is coming up in October 2013, and Icehouse is planned for April 2014.
