Prequisite

Follow the DesktopInstall instructions before configuring your Java environment.

Java Configuration

Open YAST Software Management by going to Computer - Install Software.

The following applications will have been installed as part of the base installation but need to be removed.

java-1_4_2-cacao

java-1_4_2-cacao-devel

java-1_4_2-gcj-compat

java-1_4_2-gcj-compat-devel

gcc42-java

Under "Search" enter "java" to find the above applications so that they can be uninstalled.

Put checks in the boxes by java-1_5_0-sun-devel and java-1_6_0-sun-devel to install the Java 5 and 6 SDK.

From the Filter: list, select "Installation Summary" to verify the items that will be installed, then click "Accept" to install.
